Main Function

In line with MSC Cruises policies and procedures and under the supervision of the Spa manager, the Fitness instructor/Personal trainer is responsible for receiving Guests with a warm disposition

Providing consistent professional fitness class and personal training sessions in order to achieve the highest level of guest satisfaction and revenue.

Qualifications

Proficient speaking, reading, and writing skills in English, and fluency in at least 2 of the following languages: German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese

Experience in a gym with both personal training and group exercise classes.

Previous cruise ship experience is desired

Any other courses such as Tai Bo, yoga, pilates, circuit training, body balancing, spinning, Les Mills certificates are only a bonus, but not essential

Yoga certification/degree

1/ PT training certificate or Sport academy diploma

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Any other language is considered as advantageous.

  • Training of Passenger Ship Personnel
  • Medical certificate including Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Test
  • Vaccination certificates (Covid-19, Yellow fever, MMRV)
  • MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Fitness Instructor conducts gym/aerobics demonstrations and classes to all guests, including demonstrations of how to use gym/fitness equipment
  • Assists the Spa Manager in monitoring guests’ reviews, actively making frequent suggestions to aim and implement new ideas to increase guests’ interest and participation to stimulate sales
  • Maintains a clean, well-organized, fully stocked fitness area
  • Develops good relationships with guests
  • Follows safe work routines at all times and notifies Senior Spa Manager/Spa Manager of any dangerous or unsafe places within their assigned place of duty
  • Has good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workloads and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Promotes the spa, treatments, services, seminars and retail, promotions and discounts available
  • Handles guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously
