Main Function
To provide a professional nursing and first-aid service for Guests and Crew.
To render clinical assistance to the Ship’s specified Doctor (s).
Qualifications
Fluent in oral and written English, official working language
Ability to communicate in any major other languages which may be required depending on
itinerary of the ship is considered a major advantage
University (academic) Degree in Nursing
Hold current full registration and a license to practice at least three years of post-graduate / post-registration experience
Certificates
National Seaman's Book
Basic Safety Training Certificate including Swimming & Rowing
Security Awareness Training for all seafarers
Training of Passenger Ship Personnel
Medical certificate including Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Test
Vaccination certificates (Covid-19, Yellow fever, MMRV)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Familiarize with Deck Plan and Fire Plan of the Ship to which you are assigned.
Open and close the hospital at times as per SP.
Ensure the sanitation standards of the entire medical facility as per related SP
Available to provide standard and emergency medical assistance, in Medical Center and other
ship’s locations, for guests and crew, 24 hours a day, according to schedule.
When the ship is in port is not allowed to provide medical assistance outside of the ship,
terminals included, apart Company’s specific agreement in particular destinations.
Maintain an accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies using the MMS system.
A list of medicines and medical supplies should be regularly updated which is to make sure they
have not reached or exceeded their expiry dates.
Dispense bio-hazardous waste and bio-medical sharps in appropriate disposal containers
Perform public health activities as specified in MSC Standard Procedures:
Crew arrival record
Hand check control of all food handlers
Bioluminometer test
4-point water integrity test and bunkered water test
First Aid and Eyes Wash stations check
Clean and maintain in a clinically sterilized condition all medical and surgical equipment and
instruments and report in the specific log.
Vaccine and drugs refrigerators are to be checked every 4 hours during operation
Sort into protective and clearly marked bags any reusable items for washing in the laundry
(sheets, pillowcases etc.), advising the Laundry Manager that these items are arriving.
