Main Function

Under direct management, the Photo Lab Technician performs work of moderate difficulty in the operation of a full service photography laboratory.

The primary responsibility of the Photo Lab Technician is to make prints of various types and sizes, and the maintenance on printers during operation.

The Photo Lab Technician works independently from the Photo Team under the supervision of the Photo Manager and Assistant Photo Manager. In case of need, taking photos as requested by the Photo Manager as any 1st photographer.

Qualifications

Fluent in oral and written English (working & Safety language of the Company)

Ability to speak, read and write in Italian is a major benefit and may be a requirement.

Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages (German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Chinese etc.) is considered a major advantage that could eventually influence the selection for some positions.

At least two (2) years working with laboratory equipment, supplies and materials typically used in instructional photographic laboratories.

Wide experience with photo chemistry and emulsions.

A high level of hardware and software knowledge.

Basic Safety Training Certificate including Swimming & Rowing

Security Awareness Training for all seafarers

Training of Passenger Ship Personnel

Medical certificate including Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Test

Vaccination certificates (Covid-19, Yellow fever, MMRV)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Completion of photographic orders submitted to the printer.

To print photos

To operate all photographic processing equipment in the photo lab

To train photo lab personnel in proper operation of equipment

To clean equipment and the operation area

To propose and organize quality meetings with the photographers

To follow up the basic maintenance of the printers and ensures that all material, equipment and machinery are in good working condition; any faults or damages are to be immediately reported to the Photo Manager

To ensure the matching of printing with the time table of the displayed requests

To maintain for the Manager an inventory of the paper and chemical stock control

To maintain an inventory of the available spare parts

To be responsible for the proper hazardous waste storing/disposal in cooperation

with Photo Manager under the supervision of the Environmental Officer

To understand and follow the Company’s environmental policy, rules and regulations, applying them at all times
